Sox Promote Borchard; Harris to DL

Posted May 23, 2003

(SN Report #501) - The White Sox today promoted Joe Borchard from triple-A Charlotte. This move is a result of the shoulder injury to centerfielder Willie Harris, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 22.

This will be the second time Borchard has played with the Sox. He made his major league debut with the Sox in 2002, hitting .222 (8-36) with two home runs and five RBIs in 16 games.

Borchard was struggling at the plate with the Knights, hitting .224 (30-134) with three home runs and 20 RBIs in 34 games. He was sidelined early in the season with a wrist injury.

It is not yet known whether or not Borchard will be in the White Sox line up tonight against the Detroit Tigers.
