Alomar Back Up, Paul Back Down

Posted Jun 23, 2003

(SN Report #537) - There wasn't much else Josh Paul could've done in his short 22-day stint with the team. In eight games and 13 at bats, Paul had four hits and two RBIs. He now finds himself in the same situation he was in two months ago as Sandy Alomar returns from the 15-day disabled list.

On April 24, Paul, who was placed on the 25-man roster to start the season, had to pass through waivers before returning to AAA Charlotte, with lefty Dave Sanders taking his place on the roster.

Paul, 28, is batting .353 in 13 games this season, the highest his average has been in five season's with the White Sox. Paul, once again, has to pass through waivers.

Alomar, 37, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 31 with a strained right oblique muscle. Alomar is batting .247 with one homer and eight RBIs in 25 games this season.
