The farm struggled on Friday at every level as Toledo gave up an early 3-0 lead to eventually fall to Indianapolis in their series opener. A day after topping Bowie 5-1 Erie fell to the Baysox by the same margin and Lakeland fell in a pitching duel late on Friday. West Michigan had the best result of any team as its game against Bowling Green was postponed due to rain.

After jumping to a 3-0 lead against Indianapolis on Friday, Toledo gave up four runs over the middle two innings as the Mud Hens fell 4-3. Starting pitcher Shawn Hill’s record fell to 0-4 with the loss, giving up two earned runs on seven hits in 4 ? innings of work. Bruce Rondon was strong in relief, shutting out Indianapolis with one strikeout over one inning. Danny Dorn led Toledo offensively, going 2-for-3 while driving in two runs and drawing a walk in the loss. Nick Castellanos also drove in a run on a 1-for-3 night.

A day after topping Bowie 5-1 Erie gave up five runs to the Baysox on Friday as the SeaWolves fell 5-1. Starting pitcher Matt Crouse struggled on the mound in earning the loss, giving up five earned runs on 11 hits in five innings of work. James Robbins drove in the lone run for Erie, going 1-for-4 with an RBI in the loss.

High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers
13-20, 6th in North Division

Lakeland and Clearwater carried a 1-1 tie into the seventh inning before the Threshers scored the eventual winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Flying Tigers fell 2-1 on Friday. Starting pitcher Kyle Ryan was strong despite the loss, giving up two earned runs on six hits with eight strikeouts over seven innings of work. Jeff Krizan drove in the only run for Lakeland on a 2-for-4 night at the plate.
