West Michigan brought hot bats to South Bend in their series opener with the Silver Hawks, scoring nine runs on their way to a big win on Saturday. Eugenio Suarez drove in the game-winning run for Erie against Bowie while Lakeland and Toledo could not find wins on Saturday.

AAA Toledo Mud Hens
10-27, 4th in West Division

After two innings Toledo trailed Indianapolis 6-0 and despite a flurry of scoring in the later innings the Mud Hens could not overcome the deficit, falling to the Indians 8-5 on Saturday. Starting pitcher Derek Hankins suffered the loss, giving up six runs on seven hits in six innings of work. Of those six runs, only two were earned. Avisail Garcia had a strong night offensively, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in the loss. Nick Castellanos drove in two runs despite going 0-for-5.

Erie and Bowie were tied at 1-1 going into the ninth inning before the SeaWolves scored the game-winning run in the top of the ninth, topping the Baysox 2-1 on Saturday. Victor Larez earned the no decision in the start, giving up one earned run on six hits in 5 ? innings of work. Will Startup took the win in relief, shutting out the Baysox over 3 ? innings while striking out three. Eugenio Suarez had a great game offensively, going 3-for-4 and driving in the game-winning run.

High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers
13-21, 6th in North Division

Lakeland allowed a 3-1 lead to slip away on Saturday, giving up four runs in the sixth inning to fall to Clearwater 9-4. Starting pitcher Jeff Ferrell earned a no decision in the loss, giving up four earned runs on eight hits over four innings. Jade Todd took the loss after giving up four earned runs over 1 ? innings of relief. Jordan Dean gave the Flying Tigers an offensive boost out of the designated hitter spot, going 1-for-3 with two runs driven in in the loss.

West Michigan started its series against South Bend with hot bats on Saturday, putting up 9 runs against the Silver Hawks on the way to a 9-4 win. Montreal Robertson earned his second win of the season in the start, giving up one earned run on eight hits in seven innings. Lance Durham was explosive offensively for the ‘Caps, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and four runs driven in in the win.
