Sox Nail Mariners, Tie Royals for First Place

(SN Report #592) - The White Sox continued to roll on Friday night, beating the Mariners 12-1 and moving into a first-place tie with the Royals, who lost 9-6 to the Devil Rays.

Bartolo Colon started and picked up his ninth win, throwing eight innings of one run ball. Colon struck out eight, gave up seven hits and walked none.

Offensively, the Sox were led by Carl Everett and Carlos Lee, who went a combined 5-10 with two homers and seven RBIs.

The White Sox scored seven in the first two innings, another in the fourth, and four more in the ninth.

Game two of the series will be played on Saturday at 9:05 p.m. CT, with Dan Wright going up against in Ryan Franklin.
