(SN Report #594) - Through four innings, Mark Buehrle was at his best, allowing no runs and one hit. Then came the fifth, which was met with six runs on six hits -- all singles -- and two walks. In the end, the White Sox dropped their second straight game, losing to the Mariners, 8-2.

The Sox took the 1-0 lead in their half of the fifth with a RBI-single by Carlos Lee, scoring Tony Graffanino, who reached on a fielder's choice groundout and stole second.

The Mariners fifth started with a walk to Mike Cameron, and after a groundout, a walk to Rey Sanchez and single to Willie Bloomquist, loading the bases. An Ichiro Suzuki two-run single and five straight two out singles put them ahead, 6-1.

Buehrle recorded the final out on a fly out to deep left-center and was replaced next inning with Billy Koch, who gave up two runs in an inning. Lefties Scott Schoeneweis and Damaso Marte each threw a scoreless inning. Schoeneweis all three batters he faced.

The Sox only managed four hits in five innings off Mariners' starter Gil Meche and five hits total. The Sox scored their second and final run off reliever Rafael Soriano on a homer by Aaron Rowand, his fifth of the season.

With the Royals win, the Sox are now two games back as they start another three-game set against the Royals, this time at U.S. Cellular starting Monday at 7:05 p.m. CT on WCIU. Jon Garland is scheduled to start against Runelvys Hernandez.
